Travel Risk Management

Destination assessment, journey planning, briefings and support for people who travel for an organisation or a family, with protection on the ground where the destination or the person justifies it.

What this covers

Travel risk management is the programme around people who travel: where they are going, what the risks there are, how they will move, who they will meet, and what happens if something goes wrong. We assess destinations and itineraries, review hotels, venues and routes, brief travellers before they go, and arrange secure transport and protection where the risk justifies it.

For an organisation or a family office this is a duty-of-care programme, written down and reviewed, informed by the guidance in ISO 31030 and designed to satisfy a board, an insurer and HR. For a principal or a family travelling privately it is the same work with less paperwork: a quiet plan that means the trip runs as intended.

Support continues while people are away: a named contact who knows the itinerary, local providers vetted in advance, and an agreed plan for medical and security incidents up to and including leaving a country early.

Who it suits

Companies with executives or staff travelling to higher-risk or unfamiliar destinations, family offices responsible for principals and staff who travel, and families planning a season abroad. It suits a single trip as much as a year of travel.

Scope

One-off

Assessment, planning and briefing for a single trip or tour, with support on the ground arranged as needed.

Retained

A standing travel risk programme for an organisation or family office: destination ratings, itinerary reviews and briefings as travel comes up.

Ongoing managed

Travel risk management built into a managed protection service, with every movement planned and supported as part of the whole.

How we run it

We assess each destination, itinerary, hotel, venue and route against current information and the traveller’s profile. We write the journey plan: movements, contacts, contingencies, and whether drivers or officers are warranted.

We brief the traveller, book vetted local providers and put any protection in place before departure. A named contact follows the trip and adjusts the plan as the itinerary changes. After the trip we report what happened and update the destination picture for next time.
