School Security
Security assessments and practical measures for schools, covering access, visitors, systems, procedures and staff training.
What this covers
Schools need to be open and welcoming while knowing who is on site and why. We assess the grounds, buildings, entrances, visitor management and systems, and how security responsibilities are shared among staff.
Recommendations can cover access control, CCTV, perimeter measures, visitor procedures, lockdown planning, cyber security for school systems, and training for staff. Where a school needs officers on site, we can provide them for agreed hours or events.
We work alongside the school's leadership team and safeguarding lead, so that security supports the school's existing policies rather than competing with them.
Who it suits
Independent and state schools, nurseries and colleges reviewing their security, opening a new site or responding to a specific concern.
It also suits schools hosting high-profile visitors or large events.
Scope
One-off
A security assessment of the school with a written report and prioritised recommendations.
Retained
Periodic reviews and audits, with support whenever procedures, buildings or risks change.
Ongoing managed
Managed on-site security for agreed hours, with procedures, supervision and termly reporting to the school.

How we run it
We visit the school, review its site, systems and procedures, and talk to leaders and key staff. We set out proportionate measures and agree priorities with the school, taking account of budget and the school day.
We help introduce the measures, from new visitor procedures to systems and staff training, and provide officers where agreed. We check that measures are working in practice and adjust them with the school as terms and risks change. The school receives a written report and, on ongoing arrangements, a termly review.
