Surveillance

Physical and technical surveillance and counter-surveillance, carried out lawfully to provide the information on which protection decisions are made.

What this covers

Surveillance gathers information about patterns of activity, so that risks are understood and planning is based on fact. Counter-surveillance does the reverse: it establishes whether a client, property or business is itself being watched.

Depending on the task, work can include discreet physical surveillance, counter-surveillance around a principal's movements, technical sweeps of homes, offices and vehicles for listening and tracking devices, and the review of CCTV and other sources.

All work is planned within the law, including data protection and privacy requirements, and is tied to a clear purpose agreed with the client at the outset.

Who it suits

Families and principals concerned that they are being watched or targeted, family offices protecting confidential meetings, and companies that need to establish whether information is leaking.

Surveillance also supports our protection teams when they plan complex or high-profile assignments.

Scope

One-off

A defined surveillance or counter-surveillance task, or a technical sweep of a home, office or vehicle.

Retained

Scheduled sweeps and counter-surveillance checks, for example before significant meetings or travel.

Ongoing managed

Surveillance and counter-surveillance support built into a managed protection service, with findings reported at agreed intervals.

How we run it

We establish what you need to know or rule out, and whether surveillance is a proportionate and lawful way to find out. We plan the method, locations, timings and team, and agree limits on what will and will not be done.

We deploy a team or technical specialists suited to the task and the setting. A team leader directs the work as it happens, keeps records and stops or adjusts activity if circumstances change. You receive a written report of findings, with evidence recorded so that it can be relied on.
