Chief of Staff
A chief of staff runs the private office of a family or principal, coordinating homes, staff, travel, advisers and security so that the principal deals with decisions rather than logistics.
What the role covers
Overseeing the running of the family's homes, staff and private office, and acting as the principal's main point of contact on household matters.
Coordinating travel, diaries, events and the movement of the family between properties.
Working with family office advisers, house managers and security leads, and managing budgets and suppliers.
Handling confidential matters with discretion, and keeping the principal informed through clear, regular reporting.
How we recruit and vet
Every candidate is interviewed, and we take up references from recent employers directly rather than relying on written letters alone. We check identity and the right to work in the UK, and verify the qualifications and experience a candidate claims.
For a role with this level of access, we discuss the candidate's career in depth, verify previous senior positions and, with the candidate's consent, carry out further background checks in proportion to the role. We recommend an agreed probationary period with review points.
