These are the questions families and family offices ask us most often when they are thinking about hiring private staff. If your question is not here, contact us in confidence.

How long does it take to recruit?

It depends on the role and how specific the requirement is. Many placements take a few weeks from agreeing the brief to a start date, and senior or specialist roles can take longer. We give you a realistic timetable when we take the brief.

How do you vet candidates?

We interview candidates, take up references directly with previous employers, check identity and right to work, and verify the qualifications and licences the role requires. Where it is appropriate and lawful, we arrange DBS checks. You also meet shortlisted candidates and can arrange a paid trial.

Who employs the member of staff?

That depends on the arrangement. For a permanent placement, the household usually becomes the employer, and we can help with the job description and contract. Where staff are provided as part of a managed service, the arrangement is set out in writing at the start.

What does it cost?

Our fees depend on the role and the type of engagement. We confirm them in writing before we begin, so there are no surprises when a placement is made.

What happens if a placement does not work out?

Tell us early. We will talk to you and to the member of staff, and if the placement cannot continue we will discuss a replacement in line with the terms agreed at the outset.

Can you recruit for homes outside London or abroad?

Yes. We recruit across London and the Home Counties, and for families with homes elsewhere in the UK and overseas, including rota and travelling roles.
